Transcendence

Ulla and Martin Kuafman were born in 1942 in Hildesheim, they have a similar approach into what i want to do. They explore metals in they different manners and focus on they shapes, also use beautiful diamonds to bring in that balance and contemporary feel.

Transcendence

What i wish to do is also explored by other jewellers in many different ways, to bring out that contemporary feel and ancient look in their work.
Jacob Albee born in 1976 and raised in Strafford,Vermont. His one of the jewellers who does something similar to what I am aiming to achieve, he plays around with a lot of different materials and diamonds to bring the focus out of the roughness of his jewellery.
His work is very detailed and very contemporary which makes it stand out from usual.

      Transcendence

I’d like look more in the many different types of material like silver, platinum and gold. This will bring in the different types of characters throughout my journey of exploring or transforming, ancient Egyptian jewellery into fresh contemporary jewellery.

The colors of each metal will have meaning behind it that will relate to the ancient Egyptian life, this will make each piece I manufacture have more sentimental meaning. Il use all sorts of techniques to bring the focus on what is the meaning behind each piece.

Instead of focusing on the appearance the jewellery but to beyond that and understanding why  it’s made the way its made.

Transcendence

My exploration is looking into contemporary Egyptian jewellery that has meaning of life and importance to it. Id like research on how life started in ancient Egyptian and how most of they designs had sentimental meaning behind it.

I want to integrate the ancient designs and modify them with making them contemporary pieces, by researching how they lived and the meaning behinds they designs and living. Discovering  new modern fresh ideas that would introduce something different in the modern world. This is quite important to bring another branch in the designing world.

Create new ideas that people wouldn't think of by using old ancient historical designs and meaning.

Final Piece

Dracula

As complicated as the piece looks it wasn't hard to make, just had a long process of putting it together. This was a very interesting piece and project, it allowed us to express our thoughts and designs fully. It made my experience grow and now there's more confidence in my work.

Final Design

In the design there was a lot focus in the shape and how it works. Properly planned out designing made it a outstanding success, cause it had the more contemporary style and feel. Which was the type of jewellery my jewellers make.

Manufacture

Different types of metals were used to give the best impression. This was further manipulated by adding setting to give it a point of focus.

Final Design

These are the final designs, which brought out the style and manner of my jewellers work. All was design and layed out for better understanding, then from there on design development was continuous.

             Forging Experiencing

I went on further with making a bracelet and then forged out a texture. With a catch to make it wearable and then was soft sanded to give more detail. More of the skills and techniques from my jewellers were practised to get that good detail.

Experiment

I took great interest in playing around with the different type of metals, so i could get the best suitable texture. There was plenty attention given to the hammering and forging, to get the detail and texture to a satisfying level. Aluminium was more ideal to give a good impression, these were all techniques observed from my three jewellers.

Natalie Jane Harris

Enjoys displaying rich, vibrant colours of semi-precious/precious stones and beads into modern wearable jewellery. Which show off  lightly and the stone always being the focus, traditional techniques are applied to create a variety of pieces in silver, 18ct/22ct gold. Simplicity and class in her pieces makes her jewellery everlasting.
